4 days to go! No racing today but it’s the last day of checking and packing before the first lorry leaves for Cheltenham tomorrow!
5 runners at Thurles today;
MONBEG ROSE is up first in the Mares Beginners Chase, she’s been unlucky of late and has been a while now without a win so we hope she can catch a little more luck here with Jack Kennedy on board.
HARDEN is next in the 2m Maiden Hurdle, we would hope he has improved on his latest and seems in good form at home. Bryan Cooper rides.
SOUL KALIBER takes on the second Maiden Hurdle of the day, this time over 2m7. The step up in trip should suit him and we anticipate a nice run from him today with Bryan Cooper in the saddle.
CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE can be frustrating and is now on his 16th run since a win so surely he’s due one any day now? Jack Kennedy rides.
Our last runner of the day is ISODON under Jamie Codd, after 2 solid efforts in Bumpers we’d like to think he will have come on for the experiences he’s had so far and can improve on that here today if he handles the ground.
No runners now until Thurles on Thursday but we are still very busy as you can imagine! 36 horses went galloping yesterday (pictured) to Punchestown, most of them intended Cheltenham runners.
No runners today but a busy weekend ahead with Navan and Leopardstown and the countdown to Cheltenham well and truly underway.
4 runners at Clonmel today;
CHESAPEAKE is up first in the Maiden Hurdle with Jack Kennedy on board, her latest couple of efforts have been less than impressive but we hope a step back up in trip will help her along.
OPTIMISED is next in the Handicap Hurdle, although he hasn’t set the world alight so far he’s coming into himself at home so fingers crossed he can start to show some progression. Bryan Cooper rides.
DOUBLE SCORES was back to form last time out at Down Royal, today he contests the Rated Novice Chase of 8 runners and we think he goes with a nice chance under Bryan Cooper.
Last but not least we have CREST in the Handicap Chase, quite consistent but yet to get his nose back in front after his debut win – we hope he can change that here today with Jack Kennedy taking the ride.
That’s it – we’re in March! Just under 2 weeks to go until the biggest 4 days of the year!
No runners today but we are busy all the same as we have our Cheltenham Media Day with 50 press attending to watch our Cheltenham Festival hopefuls parade and to listen to Gordon discuss his plans for each of them including Cause Of Causes (pictured)
8 Runners in Naas today:
We begin the day with MORGAN in the opening Maiden Hurdle. He finished 4th on his first start over hurdles, hopefully he will have learned a lot from this and Bryan Cooper rides.
Two of our runners go to post for the 2m Handicap Hurdle, SANIBEL ISLAND who was well beaten on his recent start, has been going well at home and hopefully he can rekindle his form, Jack Kennedy rides. LANDU makes a return to action after a long absence and he has Chris Timmons on board.
In the Grade B Handicap Chase we have GENERAL PRINCIPLE who ran an encouraging race in Gowran Park to finish 2nd on his last start, he will appreciate the softer going and has Bryan Cooper in the saddle. SPACE CADET also lines up in the Grade B Chase, he was a bit disappointing in the Leopardstown, but we hope he can put a line through that and get his spark back, Davy Russell rides.
LABAIK has proven he has a serious amount of ability but has also proven he has a mind of his own. Lets just hope he is a little more enthusiastic at the start then he has been of late and shows his capabilities yet again, Jack Kennedy rides.
CLARCAM carries top weight in the Grade 3 Handicap Chase, he has been running very consistent of late and hopefully he can keep that up and not be far away, Bryan Cooper rides.
MONBEG WORLDWIDE is our final runner of the day in the 2m Bumper. A winner of two bumpers to-date, he battled well on his last run and hopefully he can make it three in a row, Lisa O’Neill rides.
